A total of Six Billion, Three Hundred Million Brunei Dollars was proposed for the National Budget for Financial Year 2026/2027. The estimated budget was drafted to continue the government's efforts in realising Wawasan Brunei 2035, apart from ensuring the country's capabilities to maintain microeconomic stability and fiscal sustainability. Before hearing the National Budget Presentation, the Council first debated on several issues in the Questions with Oral Answers raised by members of the Legislative Council. Among them, roads and security at Brunei International Airport.

 

Regarding roads, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development explained that the Ministry of Development explained that road planning and improvements were carried out based on studies on traffic flow as well as the situation in densely populated area, especially during peak working and school hours. Several strategies have also been implemented.

 

On efforts to strengthen national policy, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence stated that the Prime Minister's Office has strengthened public office guidelines through a policy approach that is more systematic and effective.

 

Regarding the physical and digital security features at Brunei International Airport, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications, shared that flight operations are guided on Standards and Recommended Practices to ensure the level of flight safety, security management and preparedness in the face of any threat.
